Star Wars Games Will No Longer Be Canon

Disney, the new owners of the Star Wars Property announced that they will no longer be creating any Star Wars games that are canon. What this means is that every Star Wars game to be released won’t be based around any of the previous movies or new movies to be released. This actually proves to be a positive announcement to come out from Disney as the best star wars games to date weren’t canon. Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2, Jedi Academy, The Force Unleashed and Star Wars Battlefront are all incredible games that boost experiences that defeated any storyline that the cannon stories ever had.

Lucasfilm

LucasFilm alongside Disney made an announcement regarding future Star Wars Games, stating: “We want to be ensured that from here on in we will be providing an experience that can appeal to the core fans of Star Wars. We don’t want to release a game based around one of the movies we release in the future and we don’t want to release any more games based around the previous movies as it’s already been done before. From here on in we will be creating new material that can be added to new star wars games, giving an entire new storyline and experience for everyone to enjoy.”

The main hope is that Disney and LuscasFilm will create a trilogy of Star Wars Games. That was the hope with The Force Unleashed but everyone was disappointed when the second installment in the franchise had a poor campaign.
