The Fifa World Cup brings in billions of viewers every four years and when the Football tournament does arrive sports betters flock to online casinos that offer sports betting. During the last Fifa World Cup there was a lot of suspicious online sports betting occurring which is why these two regulators have joined forces to combat it this time around.

Alderney and EWS GMBH will work together with one another by sharing the information they collect through their data. This will help them detect match fixing, bet fixing and more. The major concern for both of these regulators is that those who wish to take advantage of the world cup by cheating out the system will give online sports betting a bad name. Those firms that do have suspicious activity occurring on them will be notified and then the authorities will be brought in if any escalates.

A spokesperson from the Alderney Gambling Commission commented on this announcement of the MOU saying, “Our goal is to protect and regulate online gambling as a whole. When tournaments such as the world cup come every four years, sports betters will cheat the system because they know what is at stake. This year we won’t allow that and it s a warning to all of you cheaters out there.”
